John L. Ocampo

John Lamberto Ocampo of Honolulu, Hawaii, the beloved son of Rosa and Francisco, has died at 64. Born in Manila, Philippines, and the youngest of six children, John moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972. A curious child, John developed a love of all things mathematics at an early age; he eventually received a full scholarship to attend Santa Clara University to study electrical engineering.

As a senior in college, John met Susan Mendoza, a business student at Maryknoll College in Manila. He graduated in 1979 and married Susan three years later, with whom he would later raise three children. In 1985, John and Susan co-founded Sirenza Microdevices, a supplier of semiconductors and related components. In 2008, they co-founded GaAsLabs, a semiconductor private equity firm. John also served on his alma mater’s board of trustees from 2009 to 2013.

We focus on providing the financing and operational expertise necessary to help grow companies that address the communications semiconductor market with high performance RF, microwave and optical products.

Our team has extensive experience and a proven track record of success in designing and manufacturing high performance semiconductors in wireless and wireline communications, satellite and defense-related markets.

We partner with extraordinary entrepreneurs and management teams to help realize their vision and accelerate the company's growth trajectory, profitability and market leadership position.

"The confidence John Ocampo has shown in the MACOM team over the years has been tremendous. His indelible support and belief in the company and its employees has been invaluable, and I am very grateful for his continued support. John is a true industry veteran, and his visionary approach continues to take MACOM to great heights."
